Climate change

In January 2024, following the devastating floods in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts, the organization organized a one-day district-level consultation on Community Resilience and Disaster Preparedness. The consultation brought together representatives from government departments, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), civil society organizations, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on the growing challenges posed by climate change and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events across Tamil Nadu. The programme enhanced participants' understanding of the multidimensional impacts of climate change and facilitated meaningful discussions on disaster preparedness, community resilience, and the critical roles of state agencies and local self-governments in responding effectively to climate-induced disasters.
